INFAAQ Program
Program Details
In addition to provision of food and shelter to the earth-quake victims, long-term programs for education and income-generation have become even more challenging. To cope with this issues , IRDS has started INFAAQ as a unique rehabilitation and sustainable development program enabling the earthquake victims to RISE AGAIN . This program has been designed to provide financial support for education and starting MICRO-businesses.
Education
Majority of the students in the quake-hit areas are dead; those who survived, have lost their sources of finance; they have become unable to pay for their education expenses (tuition fee, boarding fee, books, uniform etc. ). With the help of partner organizations and local community elders, deserving students are identified, financial status verified by INFAAQ Field Office and the most deserving are registered for assistance. INFAAQ has formed the following two categories of students support.
1. Students whose parents/guardians could afford to migrate to adjacent areas of Abbottabad and Mansehra and admitted their kids in local schools; they are financially supported in the same schools.
2. Students whose parents/guardians could not afford to migrate to other areas are bound to stay in tents in the quake-hit areas; these children are shifted to Peshawar to be admitted (in boarding house) in Saad Bin Muaz Int. School.
Income Generation
INFAAQ is a sustainable approach for achieving self-reliance through small income- generating activities. This program is subject to availability of financial resources.
